Telemetry is data that’s automatically generated by your solution as it's used and operated.
When telemetry is activated, you are automatically streaming critical information about your technology's performance to Cisco. In return, some of the benefits you receive from this collecting and processing of data can include:
- Proactive identification of issues that could disrupt your service
- Shortened time to remediation for troubleshooting
- Custom insights and support based on granular details
Some data collection is optional, while a few metrics are mandatory. Mandatory data, like Cisco product usage telemetry, is the minimum data necessary to help keep your technology secure, updated, and performing as expected. Examples include:
- Customer account information, like Cisco.com user ID
- System data, like deployment information and connectivity
- Feature usage, like dwell time
- Network device inventory and license entitlement, like serial number or device type
